Land Trust continues Nancy's Meadow restoration project
Land Trust volunteers are working to restore the native plant communities at Nancy's Meadow, our parcel on First Ave.
Restoration efforts have focused on removing invasive plants, including mugwort, oriental bittersweet, privet, and Japanese knotweed. This is allowing the recovery of native plants, including indiangrass, white vervain, and the endangered senna. Senna provides beautiful yellow blooms in early fall, attracts pollinators including bees, and is the primary host for a local butterfly, the clouded sulphur (caterpillar shown below).
